Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Chip Smoothie

I recently discovered cookie chips at my grocery store. They have got to be one of the most significant innovations of the century. They’re sort of little cookies, except thinner and crunchier, like chips! I have to admit a lot of their appeal comes from the title – cookie chips. How could you go wrong with cookies and chips mashed together? If they tried to pass as cookies, I’d reject them because I want my cookies chewy and soft. But somehow, as a cookie chip they’re simply amazing! Could be a little healthier…but at least the salted peanut butter ones have a little bit of protein. (Like 2 grams.) Okay, so they’re not really healthy… but better than most junk food. And I justify them by blending them into one of my nutritious smoothies with banana, apple, almond milk and nourishing peanut butter. Yum!

Peanut butter and chocolate take the spotlight in this smoothie with their bold deliciousness. Sweet vanilla and banana hang out in the background. The sweetness is balanced by the tart undertone of the Granny Smith apple and cranberries. Finally, the chocolatey flavor is highlighted even more by chocolate yogurt raisins. This is one delightful concoction to brighten your hot late summer’s day for sure.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Chip Smoothie

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 single serve container of Silk brand vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tbl Peanut Butter & Co. brand Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup frozen Granny Smith apple chunks (I froze my own apple. You could also use fresh, but then I recommend more ice)
  • 1-2 ice cubes
  • 5 Hannamax Baking brand salted peanut butter cookie chips
  • 1 tbl dried cranberries
  • 1 tbl Sun Maid brand dark chocolate yogurt raisins

Directions:

Place banana, almond milk, peanut butter, apple, and ice in blender. Blend for about a minute or until smooth.

Add cookie chips and blend for another second. Top with dried cranberries and yogurt raisins. (If desired, you can also reserve one cookie chip for topping.)

Drink up and enjoy!
