When I was in elementary school, I ate the same thing for lunch every day: A peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a yogurt, and a banana. Now that I’m so much more sophisticated, I can hardly comprehend how I survived, eating the same mundane thing every day. Now I never repeat the same smoothie recipe a second time – I insist that every meal be unique.
Even though I wouldn’t want that same childhood lunch again, I decided to incorporate those flavors into a smoothie for breakfast. And this smoothie was hardly boring, though it did provide a sense of comfort as I remembered the carefree old days at elementary school, playing in an imaginary world on the playground with my friends.
I’m sure lots of people used to enjoy peanut butter and jelly for lunch as a child, and maybe this smoothie will bring back memories for you as well.
The peanut butter and banana were what I tasted most in this smoothie, with just a hint of the grape flavor. Maybe the banana pudding I used could be replaced with some berry-flavored yogurt or something if more of a “jelly” taste is desired to complement the peanut butter.
