Chocolate Pumpkin Delight

When the pumpkin lattes come into season at Starbucks, my mom loves to get them. She’s always kind of depressed when they go out of season again. I don’t drink coffee or anything like that, so I can’t say I know what all the fuss is about. But I still wanted to get into the spirit of fall with some kind of pumpkin drink. So I decided to make a chocolate pumpkin smoothie this morning for part of my breakfast.

I was afraid it wouldn’t taste very sweet, but it turned out perfectly balanced. It’s sort of simple, yet also interesting and complex. And the smell is reminiscent of fresh-baked cookies on a lazy autumn afternoon.

As a bonus, turns out this smoothie contains at least 47% daily value of vitamin A!

  • 1 banana
  • 4-6 fresh strawberries (chop off leaves and cut each strawberry in half)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Yoplait chocolate mousse style yogurt
  • 2 tbsps Grandma Hoerner’s Pumpkin Butter
  • 5-6 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend until ice is crushed and all ingredients are blended.

Take a moment to inhale that fall smell- mmmmm…..

  1. Never heard of pumpkin butter. Sounds good.

    1. I found it in the jams and jellies section of my grocery store. It seemed weird, but it tastes great in smoothies or on toast.
